The Wixaritari are known as the Huichol community, its culture is based on shamanistic traditions. A Huichol Artists can elaborate from small beaded eggs and jaguar heads to masks, figurines and bowls; each is related to a part of Huichol tradition and belief. The beaded art is a relatively new innovation and is constructed using glass, plastic or metal beads pressed onto a wooden form covered in beeswax. The flower on the figure´s forehead represents a “peyote” cactus, used for religious traditions. The two deer’s coming out of the cactus represent life, medicine and the sacred spirit of the Wixaritari.
